Computational Complexity on Computable Metric Spaces

چکیده
We introduce a new Turing machine based concept of time complexity for functions on computable metric spaces. It generalizes the ordinary complexity of word functions and the complexity of real functions studied by Ko [19] et al. Although this definition of TIME as the maximum of a generally infinite family of numbers looks straightforward, at first glance, examples for which this maximum exists seem to be very rare. It is the main purpose of this paper to prove that, nevertheless, the definition has a large number of important applications. Using the framework of TTE [40], we introduce computable metric spaces and computability on the compact subsets. We prove that every computable metric space has a c-proper c-admissible representation. We prove that Turing machine time complexity of a function computable relative to c-admissible c-proper representations has a computable bound on every computable compact subset. We prove that computably compact computable metric spaces have concise c-proper c-admissible representations and show by examples that many canonical representations are of this kind. Finally, we compare our definition with a similar but not equivalent one by Labhalla et al. [22]. Several examples illustrate the concepts. By these results natural and realistic definitions of computational complexity are now available for a variety of numerical problems such as image processing, integration, continuous Fourier transform or wave propagation. 1 Electronic Colloquium on Computational Complexity, Report No. 14 (2002)

An Intelligent Theory of Cost for Partial Metric Spaces
Partial metric spaces generalise metric spaces, allowing non zero self distance. This is needed to model computable partial information, but falls short in an important respect. The present cost of computing information, such as processor time or memory used, is rarely expressible in domain theory, but contemporary theories of algorithms incorporate precise control over cost of computing resour...
متن کاملMetric structures and probabilistic computation
Continuous first-order logic is used to apply model-theoretic analysis to analytic structures (e.g. Hilbert spaces, Banach spaces, probability spaces, etc.). Classical computable model theory is used to examine the algorithmic structure of mathematical objects that can be described in classical first-order logic. The present paper shows that probabilistic computation (sometimes called randomize...
متن کاملDistances and Isomorphism between Networks and the Stability of Network Invariants
We develop the theoretical foundations of a network distance that has recently been applied to various subfields of topological data analysis, namely persistent homology and hierarchical clustering. While this network distance has previously appeared in the context of finite networks, we extend the setting to that of compact networks. The main challenge in this new setting is the lack of an eas...
متن کاملAlgorithmic randomness over general spaces
Algorithmic randomness over general spaces has been considered such as an effective topological space and a computable metric space. In this paper we generalize algorithmic randomness to a computable topological space. First we define computable measures on a computable topological space and study computability of the evaluation. Next we define randomnesses via three approaches. Measure randomn...
متن کاملFUZZY FRACTIONAL PARTIAL DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS IN PARTIALLY ORDERED METRIC SPACES
In this paper, we consider fuzzy fractional partial differential equations under Caputo generalized Hukuhara differentiability. Some new results on the existence and uniqueness of two types of fuzzy solutions are studied via weakly contractive mapping in the partially ordered metric space. Some application examples are presented to illustrate our main results.
